New Video: "Linger" (Live - The Cranberries Cover) - The Dove Jeans & Sad Shamir

Las Vegas tranplant Shamir performed in his new hometown of Philly last week at SoFAR Sounds & Amnesty International's worldwide concert series, which benefitted Give a Home, an Amnesty project dedicated to raising money and awareness for the world's refugees. He also teamed up with his new neighbors Sad13, The Dove & The Wolf, and Queen of Jeans, as well as video production crew Out Of Town Films, to record a cover The Cranberries' "Linger" at the Bok Building in South Philly. Dubbed The Dove Jeans & Sad Shamir, you can now check out their live performance video below. You can also catch The Dove & The Wolf and Queen of Jeans, along with Girlpool, at Underground Arts on Thursday, October 12, as part of Red Bull Sound Select's "3 Days in Philly" Festival. New Dirty Pillows ACLU Benefit Compilation (Vol. 1) Available for Streaming & Purchase

Philly/Minneapolis-based indie label Dirty Pillows just announced that it will be dropping a series of 7" records that will benefit the ACLU. The releases will be split between each of the cities, with proceeds going to their local chapters. Volume 1 features previously unreleased tracks from Purling Hiss ("Sit Down"), Harsh Vibes ("Laser Floyd"), and Dulls ("Find You"), as well as a remix from Sad13 and contributions from LOUDS and many other talented artists. You can stream the compilation in its entirety below, and feel free to purchase multiple copies via a variety of formats. Donate what you can for a good cause!

New Track: "Sooo Bad" - Sad13

Adult Swim is currently in the midst of its year-long singles series, and just released its fourth track from the compilation. "Sooo Bad" is the latest offering from Speedy Ortiz's Sadie Dupuis, a.k.a. Sad13. The song was tracked during a late-night session in her mother's kitchen. Overdubs and mixing were handled by by the band's touring sound engineer Danielle DePalma at Seaside Lounge, with mastering by Chad Clark (of Beauty Pill/Smart Went Crazy). It was also the first time Sad13 live drummer Zoë Brecher appears on a recording. (Photo by Shervin Lainez)

New Track: "It's Too Late" (Carole King Cover) - Sad13

With her take of the Carole King's soulful staple “It’s Too Late,” Sad13, a.k.a. Sadie Dupuis (of Speedy Ortiz), kicks off GRLMIC: VOL 1, a benefit compilation of covers, whose proceeds will go to Planned Parenthood and Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls. Speckled in synth, shreds of guitar, and cosmic, electronic beats, the song takes a journey outward. Coated in a gritty sweetness, this version resonates with the original, while feeling like a spaceship transmission. Give it and the entire compilation a spin, and support a couple of excellent organizations in the process. (Photo by Chad Kamenshine)

Weekend Warrior, April 7 - 9

The world continues its trend of being a chaotic and confusing place. So as the week reaches its tail end, the Pilam Human BBQ XXXIX will be offering a refreshing daylong reprieve this Saturday combining music, eats and whatever your debaucherous heart desires. The noon till midnight billing will include nearly 20 acts in all. Among them, the incisive lyricism of Sad13 delivered on an enthusiastic uplifting danceable platform and the emotive electro-pop/rock of Brandon Can’t Dance, who hovers between a solemn solitude and then swims in a sea of infectious grooves. With a new album Dark Nuclear Bogs set to arrive on April 28, the candy-coated psych-carnival of Laser Background will alter one’s perspective, while the reverberating, relatable melodies of Clique lock into your head as will the spellbinding narratives of this year’s Deli Philly Best Emerging Alt Rock Artists Poll winner, Curtis Cooper.  These are but a small sampling of the lineup, which can view in full HERE, so head over to Pilam for a day of sonic sustenance. - Michael Colavita
