The Bergamot open for SKATERS and Team Spirit at Brooklyn Night Bazaar on 5/14

On Thursday May 14, garage-pop rockers SKATERS will headline an all NYC bill for one of the last shows at Brooklyn Night Bazaar in Williamsburg (the venue will close its doors on May 23rd). THey'll be joined on stage by raucous foursome Team Spirit and new to us husband and wife alt-pop duo, The Bergamot. The event is the last of 3 free private parties sponsored by Jack Daniels and doNYC. Check out The Bergamot's brand new single, "Forget About Tomorrow" that was just released yesterday. To gain access to the show RSVP here. - Cece Port

Settlers // Team Spirit // Skaters // 3.21.14

This Friday night Mississippi Studios will play host to a trio of awesome bands from both sides of the country. Opening the night is Portland’s own Settlers whose knack for driving, atmospheric indie rock can be heard on the track “Proskater” which you can download here for free or $100... name your price. Next up will be the anthemic and energetic Team Spirit of Brooklyn, who blend a power-pop attitude with surf rock vibes to create an irresistibly rocking sound. Also from New York and closing out the night is Skaters, who are able to seamlessly combine a classic indie rock sound with a nihilistic energy typically reserved for garage rock groups. Their performance, along with the entire venue, is bound to be ecstatic as they play songs off of their debut album, Manhattan. Show starts at 9pm, do yourself a favor this weekend and get to this show.

Weekly Feature - SKATERS plays Webster Hall on October 9

With only a handful of compositions to their name, Brooklyn's SKATERS have very quickly taken a giant leap beyond the usual blog space race, garnering attention from The Guardian and The New York Times, among others, who have joined the legions captivated by their refreshingly undiluted take on classic melody-driven punk rock. Catch them live at Webster Hall on October 9. - Link: SKATERS interview.

NYC Band On The Rise: Skaters Go To Austin

Skaters excitedly pronounces their name repeatedly on landing on their nondescript website. But once you've seen the pizza-loving video for 'Schemers,' you'll get a better idea for the sense of humor the trio is capable of. Shooting toy guns through confetti-soaked backgrounds, it's obvious this is a band looking for a party. And with this much energy, there can't be one far behind. The band was selected as The Deli writers' best band of 2012, and recently signed a deal with a major label - they are definitely going to be one of the emerging acts not to miss at SXSW 2013. - Mike Levine (@Goldnuggets)
