"Roaring 2011" Electric Western NYE Party @ The 5 Spot

If you’re looking to really do it up big this New Year’s Eve, you should head to The 5 Spot on December 31st. The Electric Western DJs, who’ve been hosting The 5 Spot’s weekly Monday night dance party KEEP ON MOVIN!, have planned a Gatsby sort of evening to reel in the New Year. This means 1920s dance music from live swing band Chubby and the Dots, an old-fashioned photo booth, era décor, champagne and cocktails to start 2011 with a bang. And don’t be lame and not dress up. 1920s attire is encouraged! Tickets are $13 in advance or $15 at the door. You can preorder tickets here, and they will be ready for you at the venue the night of the event, but if you want to pick them up or have them mailed to you, contact info@electricwesternrecords.com. Party lasts from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.  Check out the promotional video here– Jessica Pace

Get PRIMITIVE w/Birth Noise and Acid Kicks at KFN Dec. 21!

When you get primitive, things tend to get pretty debaucherous, and that’s what I’m hoping to happen tonight at KFN. PRIMITIVE Presents is putting on a FREE event tonight at one of my favorite watering holes, and it promises to give all the punk, garage, metal, grunge, noise and waves to make us do very bad things. Acid Kicks will be bringing their “dream punk” as well as three bassists and a drummer, but I don’t think that they’ll have a Spinal Tap moment searching for KFN’s stage. Well, I wouldn’t mind if they did, and if you’ve been in the backroom upstairs before, then you should know that stranger things can happen behind closed doors. Birth Noise will be joining the festivities, and their name probably says it all about what you’ll be in for this evening, but I’ll share with you the video below to get your ears ready. (It’s pretty gnarley - right. Yeah - I think so too.) PRIMITIVE DJs Jane Pain and Laura Lawless also have plenty of mayhem to help us get in the mood to fuck shit up! Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 9pm, FREE, 21+ - H.M. Kauffman
